Pilanesberg Private Lodge

The Pilanesberg Private Lodge is a secluded hideaway at the base of the imposing Pilanesberg Mountains. The lodge is easily accessible, since it is only a two-hour trip from Johannesburg and Pretoria, it is only a twenty-minute drive from Sun City.

The Black Rhino Private Reserve is a section of Greater Pilanesberg National Park in South Africa and it is located in a region that does not have malaria. Approximately 57 000 hectares of land make up the park’s total area with the Black Rhino Reserve found in the north western corner of the Pilanesberg National Park.

The exclusive lodges in the private Black Rhino Reserve, like Pilanesberg Private Lodge, will especially appeal to discerning travellers. Pilanesberg Game Reserve is a good option for visitors who want to visit the internationally acclaimed Sun City, with some lodges only ten minutes’ drive away.

Guests to Pilanesberg Private Lodge can take pleasure in exploring the entirety of the park in open game vehicles. The park features both sour veld and mixed veld, but the majority of the vegetation is sweet veld, which complements the sour veld.

The only way to enter the reserve is through this lodge’s own entrance gate, which is located on the western edge of the reserve. This area of the park is not open to the public. Because they have taken refuge in this more isolated portion of the park, which is inaccessible to any other visitors, you may have the privilege of seeing buffalo on a regular basis.

The area is distinguished by the presence of a large number of tamboti trees, and as a result, you have many opportunities to observe the foul-tempered black rhino.

This area is home to the “Big 5” (lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, and both white and black rhinoceroses) as well as cheetahs and wild dogs and sable, eland, gemsbok, and springbok. The reserve is a genuine paradise for birdwatchers, since it is home to more than 354 different species.

Visitors to the lodge are also treated to breath taking panoramas of the internationally renowned “Pilanesberg Alkaline Ring Complex.”

The architecture of the lodge was created to appreciate the surrounding vistas, so that even when you are not out on game drives, there is still a possibility that you will see some of the animals from within the lodge itself.

Because the light in the area is so pure and unpolluted, you will also be able to enjoy some of the best stargazing in the world from the boma at night.

From the middle of July to the middle of October is the best time to visit the Pilanesberg (during late winter, spring or early summer). This is because animals take longer to feed in the winter because there is less nutrition. The mating season, which lasts from late February to early March, is also worth seeing. Viewing the dense bush, however, becomes difficult after January. The days are clear and warm in the winter. Evenings are typically very cold in comparison. Some areas of the park must be burned during the winter. This is referred to as a controlled fire, and it is required as part of veld management.

The winter months, on the other hand, are ideal for spotting lions. They are less aware of tourists and cars than they would be in another season. Stay in your car at all times, even if they don’t seem to notice. The animals are accustomed to vehicles, but if you exit the vehicle, you endanger them. Animals will be startled and will flee if you hoot at them. This will eliminate your chances of getting a photograph. This will frighten them and give them reason to attack.
