Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa’s fourth-largest game reserve, lies in a vast crater formed by an ancient volcanic eruption in the Bojanala Region of the North West Province. This long-extinct volcano has shaped one of the country’s most unique and captivating landscapes. Thanks to the efforts of the Genesis Project, the park now hosts a large concentration of South Africa’s wildlife.

Covering 55,000 hectares, Pilanesberg is home to more than 7,000 animals living freely in their natural environment. The park boasts all members of the Big Five—elephant, rhino, leopard, buffalo, and lion—and you’re likely to spot many of them during your visit. You may also encounter zebra, giraffe, cheetah, hyena, hippo, crocodile, jackal, wild cat, a variety of antelope, and over 300 species of birds.

With more than 200 kilometers of roads winding through the park, it offers exceptional game viewing by guided or self-drive options. On this tour, you’ll be led by an experienced and knowledgeable guide who will share insights into the wildlife and ecosystem. Don’t forget your camera—Pilanesberg promises unforgettable wildlife moments and breathtaking scenery.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Full Day Pilanesberg Safari

Make your way to the collection point at Bosele Camp, located at Manyane Resort, right next to the main entrance of Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by your guide.

Please note: MoAfrika Tours offers pick-up and drop-off services for guests staying at Sun City or nearby accommodation. This service is available at an additional cost.

At 09:30, hop into an open safari vehicle for an exciting morning game drive. Your guide will take you to prime wildlife areas, keeping an eye out for remarkable sightings of the Big Five and more.

Please note: The morning game drive lasts approximately 2½ to 3 hours. The duration may vary depending on animal activity and how long you choose to stay at a particular sighting.

Between 12:00 and 13:00, enjoy a light lunch and a refreshing drink at the Pilanesberg Centre, which overlooks a waterhole often visited by wildlife. There’s also a small shop where you can purchase additional drinks or snacks.

In the afternoon, set off on another game drive in an open safari vehicle, lasting between 1½ to 2 hours. Again, the timing may vary depending on what you encounter in the bush.

Your guide will return you to Bosele Camp at Manyane Resort between 15:00 and 15:15, where you can collect your vehicle. Return transfers to Sun City will be arranged if booked in advance.
